Nina modeled for Ron Chapple on the island of Maui, Hawaii for a lifestyle and yoga shoot on the beach. Nina, also a photographer, shares her experiences.
You are also a photographer- what was it like to be in front of the camera?
io:
Nina: I was really nervous as I usually hate being in front of the camera. But since my recent move to Maui was totally life changing, I decided to try new things. And I had a great time! Plus, deciding to model for Ron also changed my life… I began to assist for him on his shoots- which taught me a lot as well.
What was your favorite part of the shoot?
io:
Nina: Well there are 2 parts actually: Near the end of the shoot, we did some more punk rock shots and Ron said “Ok - Now flip off the camera!” I did my best Sid Vicious face (which is pretty bad) and flipped the birdy. Second part was seeing the shots! They were all amazing and I emailed them to my mom (not the birdy photo).
What type of photographs do you like to shoot?
io:
Nina: Portraits are my favorite. Living in Maui, landscape is inevitable. Food and still life tickle me too.
Tell us what its like to live on Maui?
io:
Nina: Why didn’t I do it sooner?
Do you have any advice for people that aspire to be in photos?
io:
Nina: Move to Maui (never a bad choice). Shoot with Ron (always fun). Have the courage to change your life (look how liberated I look in the photo!)
